Calling Card Branding
The phone card industry's exponential growth is a direct result of the consumers' need for cheap and convenient communications services. Pre-paid phone cards and monthly billed calling cards often offer considerably lower long distance rates than the more traditional phone services such as coin, cellular and collect calling. Additionally pre-paid phone card rates remain constant no matter what time or day the call is placed.
By printing a company name on a card or information commemorating a specific event, innovative telecom companies began marketing the cards as promotional items. Cards were sold as prizes or incentives and tourist souvenirs. They also became collectors items exactly like stamps and baseball cards due to their being run in limited editions.
Phone cards are here to stay. They are now being packed with additional services. Pre-paid internet accounts, e-mail services, paging, SMS messaging, voicemail, cellular phone service, international callback, and a variety of audio, text and digital information and entertainment services. WAP technology is here too.
Calling cards still continue to be popular within the residential market, its never too late to start a calling card with your choice of preferred name.
Promotional calling cards are a unique and effective business marketing tool for creating brand awareness. Whether it is a name, trademark, logo, or symbol, a brand is essentially a medium by which your business is identified by potential customers. Possible scenarios where promotional calling cards proof to be useful.

The customer dials a local or toll-free access number shown on the card. The VoIP gateway, which is connected to the access number, answers the call and with the assistance of the IVR server prompts the caller to enter his PIN number.
After validating the PIN through the VoIP billing server, the VoIP gateway announces to the caller his account balance and invites him to dial a destination number.
Upon entering such number, the VoIP gateway announces the amount of calling time available and connects the caller to the destination number.
During the conversation, the VoIP gateway converts voice signal to data packets and routes them to the terminating gateway (owned by the call termination VoIP carrier).
Upon call completion, the billing server records complete CDR information for the call that could be used for billing, reporting and analysis.
